CAFS - Community and family studies

Community and family studies is designed to develop in each student an understanding of the diverse nature and interdependence of families and communities within Australian society.

The preliminary course will involve students studying the basic concepts of resource management, individual roles and responsibilities, family structures and function and their interaction between families and communities.

During the HSC course, students will develop knowledge and skills in research methodology, learn about the characteristics and needs of communities, roles of parenting and caring in contemporary society.

PASS - Physical activities and sports studies

Designed to improve leadership ability through a range of activities. SLR teaches the science behind human movement , how it is performed and how to improve it in others.

Students will learn to analyse and appraise  sports performance  and social issues in sports, as well as develop strategies to prevent sports injuries, improve their own sports perfomance , deliver first aid, manage and run sporting events and coach teams.

PDHPE - Personal development, health,  physical edcuation

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Year 7  to Year 10.

SLR - Sport, lifestyle and recreation

SLR requires student involvement in all carnivals in Years 11 and 12.

Students will develop knowledge and understanding of the factors and principles that influence health and participation in physical activity and quality performance along with the ability to analyse and implement strategies to promote health, activity and enhanced performance and to influence the participation and performance of self and others.
